The Battle System revisted
To Understand Battles, you need to understand the parts and how they will work.
In essence, an AP means a ’round’ of battle and the strength of the battle.
The sequence will flow round by round (AP by AP) until either the AP are all used up, or the troops are all incapacitated.
Firstly, lets look at Walls and War-machines.
If the Army encounters any kind of walls, (barricades and traps for warcamps) the army will have to deal with them first. Archers can shoot troops which man the walls, while the archers and wall defenders can rain down arrows, boulders, boiling oil and pitch with fire upon the attackers.. This will result in ALOT of injuries and some deaths. DURING this carnage, the attacking army will attack the Walls with war-machines if possible, but if not, with their own bodies. Actually with or without war machines, if the troops are unable to damage the walls more than 20%, they will retreat and you’ll get a retreat message (all remaining AP will be lost)
After Walls are destroyed, the army will be able to enter the city and attack the Army that defends it. If the Attacking Army if RAIDING, they will attack and steal, if set to Battle (or for late game War) they will concentrate more on injuring and killing respectivly.
If during any ’round’ the number of units uninjured on either side =0, the battle changes..
If the Enemy =0, your troops will have a free for all on the gold that can be found. Each AP left will result in the troops grabbing bags of gold and taking it out of the city.
If its Your troops who hit 0 first, the enemy will retaliate, fighting off injured troops as they attempt to escape and killing the unconcious.
This will result in a few possible ‘battle results’
1) Glorious Victory, you destroyed the walls, entered the city, beat off the defenders and stole so much gold, you had trouble hauling it back.
2) Stupendous victory, you vaulted the barricades, entered the warcamp, stripped the camp bare of anything of worth and came back happy.
3) Great Victory, You entered the city, beat back the defenders and stole a large ammount of their resources.
4) Victory, you entered the city, beat back the defenders and stole a decent ammount of gold.
5) Paltry victory, you entered the city, beat back the defeneders, but there was little gold to be found, you stole some weapons and some chickens in compensation.
