@ // Your questions and .. Where is the rank? [...] for the most part it said.. how long have you been playing and how often do you get online.
// Fair enough.

@ // I’m going to set up several ways to list people [...] least a list that he was able to determine based on his skill and your rangers skills)
// Mutiple lists is a splendid idea. Diversity is a winner.
But don't forget humans like to measure themselves versus one another. It doesn't translate into X is better than Y per se. You as the maker have the power to create lists of such like you've mentioned, the best goldtaker, the best goldloser, the worst builder etc.. but what I think was the allure to this game pre-facebook pre-farmville era is that one didn't need to be a teenage boy with an ultra graphics card to play it. One could be a man or a woman, young or old, a housewife or a gardener, smart or dumb and completely useless with a keyboard and yet be "good" at this game.

@ // interests of fairness [...] ‘has been playing for 6 years’ vs ‘ started yesterday but has skill’.
// Amen to that.

@ // and secondly… Help guide, what is the “point” of this game…
Have fun? I assume you have played LofL? no? if not .. how did you find this?
// Firstly I spoke out of turn haha, I half assumed the game was done, but of course realise it's got a while yet on the drawin board, so, sorry about that :D but secondly yeah, if you remember back in the day, the tutorials of people like yourself who wrote them put a "noob" into the game in a matter of virtually minutes by a simple explanation. So that document is absolutely crucial. And you have in your answers opened a little on the lid of your vision for this game of yours, which seems to be, like you've mentioned a hybrid of sorts. Which is cool. But people like myself want to be able to read up on that directly to choose if my time is worth the "waste of time" one loves to throw away on the digital web. So I assume you will write another epic tutorial soon and put it smack right on the first page of the FRONT page of Wofl so one can decide. :D
And yes, I was there back in 2003/4, at the dawn of LoL.

@ // Yes I also thought ALOT about that, LofL had reset, it allowed new players to get in and enjoy the game, but older players lost their entire army.. you got used to it, and enjoyed the first weeks of excitement.. but eventually.. it got old.. all this work for nothing..
//Well, like you mentioned, winning isn't the point, the journey and beyond is. Work magic with them lists!
As for me, winning was never the point - MASSING was! ;)

@ // I hated that, and honestly I’m at the point where wasting my time in games that have no point to them is a waste of my time. I’d rather play a game knowing that it actually does something.
// Fair enough. But if that weird little game of complete uselessness didn't do "something", how is it some people are still out there years and years after still talking about it? Simple nostalgia? Doubt it. It was because anyone could do it since it was such an uncomplicated and easy game to play. A digital Fight Club for the nerds. And I sincerely hope you and your team make it, but never forget, like Trade did, "The User" - after you've created the game it's not really your waste of time no more - it's OUR waste of time! :D

@ // hence the reason i make my own games.. Everything you do in this game will affect every player that plays afterwards. I’m designing this game to be ongoing, world building, world changing, dynamic and never the same from one month to the next… but not once will I ever take away what you put your time into..
// Sweeeet! :D

@ p.s. i don’t want 6yr olds playing… I’ll wait till they finish school and have a few marbles in their heads.
// What if one grew up but lost the marbles like Tootles.. ;)

@ 1st paragraph
// Fair enough. With all this info it's hard to see the forrest with all them trees. And yes, if your intention indeed is to include the "gamer" in the process while building it unlike Trade operated, a very productive and smart move it will be.

@ 2st para
// Splendid. With all them geeks out there reporting in the probs for your team the games evolvement will multiply by a factor of 10.

Your questions and .. Where is the rank?
Most of your questions (thankyou for taking the time to write them) come under the heading of 'I'ts coming' or 'We're working on that' except maybe What is my Power and What is my ranking... I do feel it warrants its own answer.. Rank in LofL was a way to determine (simplistically) someone who was 'better' or 'worse' than you. It also determined how high up you could attack, or how Low down you could attack, for the most part it said.. how long have you been playing and how often do you get online.

WofL is different, who ranks you?.. and what is their reason for saying 'Hey.. your worse than me' in the rankings chart?.

I'm going to set up several ways to list people, and have players choose WHAT list they want to see most often (i.e. in the columns) Want to see All players you have an 80% approx chance of winning according to latest scouting reports, who have the most displayed wealth? Click a Scout, send him out with his buddies and you'll get that list (or at least a list that he was able to determine based on his skill and your rangers skills)

Typically, On the front screen The largest number of men will be the Army lists, and the highest win ratio might be the Warlords list. this has yet to be decided, but most likely the player can choose which list to show as the default.

Each 'list' Will be viewable.. but in the interests of fairness, Its not right to list the 'most gold right now' as everyone will use it to find low level players going for a 'run' Instead I think it'd be more fun to 'boast' with a list of "max gold you ever had' and 'who had the most gold this week'- after the week has ended. Other lists would be 'highest win ratio by week, highest single gold take for the week(in armies) most AP used in 1 hour, Each week, the wizards of Old lore could award a medal to the top 5 of each list, We'd publish it on the forums and front pages, and the 'status' will award those kingdoms with a popularity boost. (+1 peasant) these awards need to be winable by ALL players though to make a fair distinction between 'has been playing for 6 years' vs ' started yesterday but has skill'.

and secondly... Help guide, what is the “point” of this game...

I had considered the idea of waiting until the game was more complete, but I asked myself.. would I , as a player, prefer Trade to allow me to join in the creation process.. or leave me out of the loop and give me a complete game. I chose the latter, so I give you the choice. I did express this in the forums i.e. facebook group. but maybe it does need to be re-addressed.

As to your questions, Thankyou for Adding them, we are working on a 'Add your error here' page to submit all problems and bugs.. also the wordpress site is in a shambles, I can't seem to get it to work so, if you know any very good wordpress sites I can check with their owners and ask questions.

and yeah, the pocket cash should be the "winnings" since not only the "dead" on the battlefield have money on them but more to the point - they have a supportforce that has the large storage of money for the army, ie, if you beat the enemy on the field, there should be a substantial cash reward, how else do you think the older day armies were kept loyal? :D

Yeah, the split makes sense.
Farmers shouldn't cost money but will produce food and gold. And only slightly increase your power since they are useless for fighting unless in vast numbers.

Mercs and trained soldiers don't produce gold, but consume food and can get you money if one puts them to work, ie, pillage and burn. There should be a difference between the merc and the trained soldier, the merc should have more experience but be way more expensive to upkeep.

I'd implement it.

Also, don't do the mistake Trade did, refusal to delegate and refusal to not "let people inside", instead - do so! (You're still the boss)

Then you will see a lot of nerds out there are willing to help you out and best of all - they will do it for FREE.

Simple physics - 20 people will get it done if YOU put them to work.
ie,
Bane: v-you do a guide
Bane: x-you edit the lingo on the guide
Bane: y-you check for logic gaps in the game play
Bane: z-you communicate what is being looked at

All you have to do is acknowledge on the board they aided in the process.

///
back to the feedback: when one clicks forum from inside the game one doesnt get to "this" forum..

when one registers, why not any caps and numbers in the name?

what is my power?

how long is the round?

how large/small are the clans?

is the game based on reality or FUBAR? ie, if i train my troops, will they kill a larger but untrained force?

and why not share those 3 pages of errors so others know what they are and can save the time by moving on to the next problem since you've been informed about it already, this way the process is sped up exponentionally, just a thought?

Also, don’t do the mistake Trade did, refusal to delegate and refusal to not “let people inside”, instead – do so! (You’re still the boss)

Then you will see a lot of nerds out there are willing to help you out and best of all – they will do it for FREE.

Simple physics – 20 people will get it done if YOU put them to work.
ie,
Bane: v-you do a guide
Bane: x-you edit the lingo on the guide
Bane: y-you check for logic gaps in the game play
Bane: z-you communicate what is being looked at

All you have to do is acknowledge on the board they aided in the process.

///
back to the feedback: when one clicks forum from inside the game one doesnt get to “this” forum..

when one registers, why not any caps and numbers in the name?

what is my power?

how long is the round?

how large/small are the clans?

Feedback, ah, where to begin...haha..well cudos for doin it at least!

Which browsers are supported? Seems Firefox isnt?
Is this largely a cellphone based game or for pc aswell?
Where is the rank?
Why so complicated, less is more...
When is the "turn", ie, 10min, 20min, 30min etc...?

Help guide, what is the "point" of this game.. and what does all the symbols mean, nothing is explained. Treat people like 6yr olds and you'll attract more players. Simplify it.

I'd take the game down and put it up when you're ready mate..
